I Felt Every Second of That Drill

I was in the dentist’s chair last week for what should have been a quick fix: replace a cracked filling, in and out. But as the drill started, I realized something wasn’t right.

I could feel everything. Even the air flow from the suction was causing pain.

After a few painful seconds, I raised my hand and asked, “Is it true that redheads need more freezing?” My dentist paused, gave me a look, and said, “Actually… yeah, they often do.”

I nodded. “Thought so. I’m bald now, but I was a redhead back in the day.”

We both laughed and then I got another round of freezing. Then another and another. The dentist was pulling out all her tricks and nothing was working. I literally told her to just hit me with a hockey stick and get it over with. I could easily take a blow from a hockey stick but the endless needles and attempted drilling was just torture.

The whole experience reminded me of what many Ontarians are going through right now with their mortgages. Because this market? It hurts. And for a lot of people, the usual freezing just isn’t working.

For years, mortgage solutions brought relief. The numbers worked. The process felt smooth. But in today’s market, it’s like we’re all sitting in the chair, hoping for some numbness and instead, we feel every bit of the pain.

But just like my dentist didn’t give up until the freezing finally kicked in, I don’t stop until we find the right strategy that does provide relief.

There’s still a way to get through it. You might just need a little extra freezing; a little extra expertise, creativity, and support.

So, if your mortgage situation is feeling a bit raw lately, reach out. Let’s take the pain out of the process! (Worst case we can use the hockey stick.)
